Ode to the Rain/Oda a La Lluvia was an instillation that captured the sound, the solitary sensation, and the tender safety of being in a structure close to, but not in, the rain. It was inspired by the conceptual artist’s memories and feelings around the rain in Costa Rica.
It is a 10 x 10 square foot piece of corrugated steel, suspended 15 feet in the air with a sprinkler system above such that it simulated the sound of rain on a tin roof. The sprinkler was controlled by a switch under the tin roof which attendees of the festival could turn and sit under the roof in a hammock.
This piece was with done with Ian Bankhead (design, architect), Rebecca Li (Engineering) and Tommy Moriarty (Engineering). I (Eva) originated the concept and oversaw the project. It has been shown at the Firefly Arts Festival in Vermont July 1-7, 2024.
